Descent Legal — International Ancestry & Heritage Citizenship

Every family has a story worth reclaiming.

For nearly a decade, we have helped families across Europe, Asia, and beyond trace their Latin American, Italian, Irish, and Iberian ancestors — and, where the path is clear, guide them toward the citizenship that heritage entitles them to.

What we do

Three intertwined practices.

Research uncovers the family; documentation proves it; law recognizes it. Most engagements move through all three, in that order, at the pace the archives allow.

Genealogical Research

Archival research across Latin American and European civil registries, church records, and immigration archives — reconstructing a family tree that will hold documentary weight.

Citizenship by Descent

Jurisdictional analysis and end-to-end management of citizenship applications through consular and registry routes, including patient multi-generational cases.

Family Reunification & Recognition

Considered legal support where biological relationships were never formally documented — acknowledgment procedures, and first contact handled with care.

A family story

“My grandfather left Buenos Aires in 1953. Three generations later, we came back.”

He carried one suitcase, a tailor’s shears, and a habit of silence about the country he had left. What survived him was smaller still: a photograph of a doorway on a street no one could name, and a baptism card from a parish that had since changed its spelling.

It took fourteen months of registry correspondence to turn those two objects into a documented family line — and another year for his great-granddaughter to stand in the same doorway holding a passport that called her what he had been all along.

Our approach

Patience, precision, privacy.

Patience

Archives answer on their own schedule, and so do consulates. We plan in months, tell families the truth about timelines, and never trade thoroughness for speed.

Precision

A citizenship file is only as strong as its weakest certificate. Every date, name, and seal is verified before anything is filed anywhere.

Privacy

Family history is intimate. We work quietly, hold what we learn in strict confidence, and publish nothing that could identify the families we serve.
